UNMASKING THE CHARISMATIC HERESY "For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths" 2 Timothy 4:3-4 - "False messiahs and false prophets will arise and will perform signs and wonders in order to mislead, if that were possible, the elect" Mark 13: 22 - "The smoke of Satan has entered the Church" Pope Paul VI

UNITY

The Charismatic Movement is unity driven; not by unity of doctrine, but by unity of religious experience. This type of unity transcends doctrinal and denominational barriers. The one thing charismatics of every denomination have in common is confusion about unity. Instead of unity based on truth, truth is sacrificed for the sake of unity. But the type of unity which disregards the one true faith and creates doctrinal confusion actually harms unity.

Unity has been much exploited by the charismatic leadership. There are large conferences dedicated to “unity”. Unity has become a charismatic catchphrase in the promotion of pluralism and in the defense of novelties. No matter what crazy thing is being promoted charismatics are urged to maintain unity. If anyone dares to question or to raise an objection – that person sows the seeds of disunity; that person becomes the enemy of unity. At charismatic gatherings unity is enforced; otherwise things… don’t work all that well.

Jesus asked the Father that we may all be unified. "...Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are." (John 17:11) Then in verse 17 Jesus prayed “Consecrate them in the truth...” See, Jesus wasn’t praying for unity at the expense of truth or even for ecumenical unity!

The Catholic teaching of ‘unity’ means that we are to have the same beliefs.

CCC #815 What are these bonds of unity? Above all, charity "binds everything together in perfect harmony." [Col 3:14] But the unity of the pilgrim Church is also assured by visible bonds of communion: profession of one faith received from the Apostles; common celebration of divine worship, especially of the sacraments; apostolic succession through the sacrament of Holy Orders, maintaining the fraternal concord of God's family. [Cf. Unitatis Redintegratio 2; Lumen Gentium 14; CIC, can. 205.]

Besides, “Tear Down the Walls” is hardly sound doctrine!

About Me

Canada
I am a recovering charismatic and a Catholic Orthodox; observing orthopraxis to the best of my ability. I acknowledge what the Church REALLY DOES TEACH; opposed to what some people erroneously say the Church teaches. “Catholic Orthodoxy” is proposed "to conform to the Catholic faith as taught by the Magisterium of the Church. So an "orthodox" person is one who is FAITHFUL to the teachings of the Church, whereas a "heterodox" person is somebody who rejects ANY Catholic dogma. Orthopraxis means "Performing the correct actions". Catholic Orthodoxy is defined by the Catechism: it tells us what we have to TO BELIEVE. Catholic Orthopraxis is denoted by the Code of Canon Law: it spells out what we have TO DO. Because “Truth is not determined by a majority vote" -- Pope Benedict XVI.
