CHARISMATIC MASS

Charismatic Degradation of the Liturgy
Charismatic Masses are accompanied with a great deal of emotional expression. They are long, because the sermon is often very long and because there is always a great deal of time spent on praise and waiting on prophecy. Unfortunately they are also fraught with liturgical abuse. There are all sorts of additions to the liturgy; tongues, prophecies, background music, swaying, handholding, hugging, dancing, and clapping. The music is folksy, loud and overly dramatic.
Gospel Procession at St. Nicholas
Talk about dancing… Twenty years later there is still talk about a conference at the local Sports Center. During the mass a priest grabbed a nun and they waltzed around the altar to the shrieks and laughter of the congregation. It happened before my time, but those who were there still talk about it. It would seem there are plenty more doing the same.
