UNMASKING THE CHARISMATIC HERESY "For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths" 2 Timothy 4:3-4 - "False messiahs and false prophets will arise and will perform signs and wonders in order to mislead, if that were possible, the elect" Mark 13: 22 - "The smoke of Satan has entered the Church" Pope Paul VI

HAZARDS ON THE WEB

It seems you can’t trust anybody anymore. You are hard pressed to find orthodox Catholic sites without having to contend with charismatic spirituality including the website of the Holy See. Then there are the false apparition sites; often promoting links to authentic Catholic information. Their latest “come on over” contribution is the promotion of Montfortian spirituality. "Total Consecration" is certainly available on-line, but take care; the “home” link may lead you to a strange place. Which brings to mind ultra traditionalist Catholics.

Traditionalist sites of course are free of charismatic material and unapproved apparitions, but they are not free of questionable content either. The obsession with “Jewish takeover”, endless conspiracy theories, yearning for the monarchical system can range from infantile to disturbing. The real traddie wackos of course congregate to “Holy War”. There exists no excuse for such a site. It should have been shot down for spreading hate long time ago. Some traditionalists identify the Catholic faith with right-wing politics, which is a rather simplistic and uninformed point of view. The argument of course is that liberalism is the foundation of modernism and therefore modernism is the foundation of heresy. But in reality traditionalists are not all conservatives. Terms and contexts should be defined before deciding what political candidate is worthy of Catholic support; be it liberal or conservative; left or right wing. Let me explain. If by "rightwing" one means pro-family, pro-life, pro-Church and anti-secular, I suppose all good Catholics ought to be right-wing. But if “rightwing” means exploitation of others and neglecting the most vulnerable of society in the pursuit of profit than Catholics should not be right wing at all. And herein lies the problem of mixing religion with politics. Can man really unite God's plans with his own aspirations? Man tends to conjure up God in his own image (yes, God in man's image) so it isn't surprising that he ends up mixing up God's purpose with his own. Check out the traditionalist forums and the endless tirades against leftists, who to vote for and why. The political affiliations these people hold are sacred cows and thou shall NOT topple these sacred cows and anyone foolish enough to attempt that shall be swarmed by the best of them.

About Me

My photo
Canada
I am a recovering charismatic and a Catholic Orthodox; observing orthopraxis to the best of my ability. I acknowledge what the Church REALLY DOES TEACH; opposed to what some people erroneously say the Church teaches. “Catholic Orthodoxy” is proposed "to conform to the Catholic faith as taught by the Magisterium of the Church. So an "orthodox" person is one who is FAITHFUL to the teachings of the Church, whereas a "heterodox" person is somebody who rejects ANY Catholic dogma. Orthopraxis means "Performing the correct actions". Catholic Orthodoxy is defined by the Catechism: it tells us what we have to TO BELIEVE. Catholic Orthopraxis is denoted by the Code of Canon Law: it spells out what we have TO DO. Because “Truth is not determined by a majority vote" -- Pope Benedict XVI.
