SECULARIZED PRIESTS - CLERICALIZED LAITY

Vatican Warns Against Confusing Roles of Laity and Priests

Avoid both clericalization and secularization

The need to avoid both the "clericalization" of the laity and the "secularization" of priests is the essence of a letter signed by the Vatican Secretary of State on behalf of John Paul II. In the letter published Tuesday by the Vatican Press Office, Cardinal Angelo Sodano acknowledges that, thanks to the work of the Second Vatican Council, "the laity have a clearer awareness of their vocation," which has led to their more "active participation in the liturgy...." Which are the priests? All of them… what happened to the priests in picture two? They have been secularized and popularized.

"A Cardinal (at the Vatican) talks about priests being too "worldly". Gee ya think? Not that they're all that way, of course. But generally speaking, he's on to something. Maybe it can be traced back to that "embracing of the world" stuff from Vatican II?" writes Paul Nichols over at the Catholic Cartoon Blog - that I like so much to quote.

About Me

I am a recovering charismatic and a Catholic Orthodox; observing orthopraxis to the best of my ability. I acknowledge what the Church REALLY DOES TEACH; opposed to what some people erroneously say the Church teaches. “Catholic Orthodoxy” is proposed "to conform to the Catholic faith as taught by the Magisterium of the Church. So an "orthodox" person is one who is FAITHFUL to the teachings of the Church, whereas a "heterodox" person is somebody who rejects ANY Catholic dogma. Orthopraxis means "Performing the correct actions". Catholic Orthodoxy is defined by the Catechism: it tells us what we have to TO BELIEVE. Catholic Orthopraxis is denoted by the Code of Canon Law: it spells out what we have TO DO. Because “Truth is not determined by a majority vote" -- Pope Benedict XVI.
