SUMMORUM PONTIFICUM

God Bless You Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI!

Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos, President of the Pontifical Commission, "Ecclesia Dei" has said regarding the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, on July 24, 2007 to 30Giorni:

The Motu Proprio did not change Canon Law. The Apostolic See has the power to order the sacred liturgy of the universal Church. And even though the bishop is the moderator of the liturgy in his own diocese, he has to act in harmony with the Apostolic See, and has to guarantee to each faithful his own rights, including the one to be able to participate in the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite.

Pseudo-news reports claimed there was a minimum requirement of 30 faithful requesting the Mass using the 1962 Missal. In fact the motu proprio does NOT set a minimal number of faithful needed to celebrate the Mass of Saint Pius V. said Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos.

A pamphlet titled What Does The Motu Proprio Mean For Us? by Fr Rob Johansen, (Dorr, Michigan, USA) is available for download here

In PDF format, designed to be printed on both sides of a single 8 1/2 by 11 page. Insert it into a parish bulletin or put in a literature rack. You can freely copy and distribute this pamphlet, the only thing father asks is that you do not excerpt it, abridge it, edit it or obscure the attribution without his consent.

About Me

I am a recovering charismatic and a Catholic Orthodox; observing orthopraxis to the best of my ability. I acknowledge what the Church REALLY DOES TEACH; opposed to what some people erroneously say the Church teaches. “Catholic Orthodoxy” is proposed "to conform to the Catholic faith as taught by the Magisterium of the Church. So an "orthodox" person is one who is FAITHFUL to the teachings of the Church, whereas a "heterodox" person is somebody who rejects ANY Catholic dogma. Orthopraxis means "Performing the correct actions". Catholic Orthodoxy is defined by the Catechism: it tells us what we have to TO BELIEVE. Catholic Orthopraxis is denoted by the Code of Canon Law: it spells out what we have TO DO. Because “Truth is not determined by a majority vote" -- Pope Benedict XVI.
