SEMINARY OF SMUT

(My comments in color)
In the Miami Archdiocese:
“The St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary sent out two vocation-recruiting catalogs to prospective seminarians. One version contained articles and no advertisements. The other had two bare-chested men in a hot tub.” Matt C. Abbott adds “In addition to the hot tub ad, you'll notice the first paragraph of an ad for a South Florida restaurant,

where "you're given the ultimate excuse to party," and where there are "lovers bathed in a captivating sanctuary of controlled unrestraint." Vomit, puke, hearl, and gag some more.
Monsignor Keith R. Brennan' response:
“An article posted on a web site accuses St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary of distributing two vocation-recruiting catalogs to prospective seminarians – one targeting heterosexual men with no advertisements and another targeting homosexual men that contained ads directed to the gay community. This article has resulted in emails of deep concern to the seminary and postings and commentary on other web sites. First of all, the magazine to which the article refers is our quarterly magazine, DIALOGUE, for alumni, friends and benefactors of the seminary.”

Did he write this with a straight face? (no pun intended) Now why would a Catholic seminary publish this kind of sleaze for anyone - much less for friends and alumni? Look at the front cover: their alumni is Catholic clergymen.

Mickey Mouse and friends in a tub would have been inappropriate content for a seminary publication.

On the other hand, promoting two bare chested and shaved(!) muscle men cozying up in a hot tub is revolting. A Seminary has no business promoting immorality to any target group. That picture and what it represents is immoral and unsuitable for a supposedly celibate population of priests.
According to Brennan “It is not a “vocation-recruting catalog” as the author, Matt C. Abbott, suggests on his page link on the Renew America website.”
Well whoopty doodoo, they were not recruiting with this ordure! Then who is it for? What kind of “alumni, friends and benefectors”... do these people have anyway? The Monsignor has too many excuses for comfort.
But wait there is more! They hired a spin doctor, but failed to get the story straight. Because according to an e-mail Matt C. Abbott received from Jim Frankowiak of the Coastal Public Relations Group on behalf of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary “The printer actually replaced two, four page sections of Dialogue with two, four page sections from a magazine called Flavor that is produced for the gay population. We know this to be the case with at least one copy. The seminary was provided with a copy of that copy. There have been no other reports of additional copies to date.” Source
WOW! They simply can't shake the smut. Here they are entrusted to prepare the next generation of priests and yet they publish a magazine for the gay population complete with titillating ads under the title “Flavor”... What for?
So now the REAL STORY is out. Leaves you with a bad “flavor” in the mouth - don't it?
